Alex Johnstone – Senior RYA Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor & Proprietor
Alex Johnstone is an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor, originally hailing from the UK. As owner-operator, he runs Bluewater Sailing’s RYA training and our Grenada sailing charters from his favourite place in the world – the tropical Grenadines!
Sailing worldwide for over 35 years, Alex has logged over 100,000 nautical miles. His experience and knowledge is extensive, and he comes highly-rated as an RYA Instructor. A great mentor, Alex is very patient and loves nothing better than sharing his passion for learning to sail in the Grenadines on a Grenada sailing charter.
An accomplished cook, Alex loves to entertain students and guests on board in the evenings. He is a great accordion player and a mean card player too! Alex’s zest for fun and adventure shines through as he introduces visitors to the islands. Aside from sailing, he enjoys hiking, scuba diving, fishing and snorkelling in the beautiful Grenadines.

Yacht Delivery: We have the experience to safely deliver your yacht anywhere in the world. Through their worldwide knowledge of yachting they will minimise your expenses.
Skipper Service: Available for worldwide skipper services. Our instructors will provide top quality charters and management – making the most of the region where the yacht is based.
Diving Services: Alex is a PADI Open Water Diver and experienced in underwater hull work – from changing propellers and anodes to hull race preparation.
Consultancy: If you are planning an ocean passage, or have any other yachting questions, Alex can assist you in preparing for an adventure. He can advise you on passage planning, ports to visit, sail plans, and power needs. An on board sail and yacht inspection will allow a comprehensive report on your proposed cruise to be produced.
Personal Boat Tuition: Our instructors can help you become a competent and confident sailor on your own boat as a personal RYA Instructor. Does not include Yachtmaster training, courses or examinations.
Mark Wibberley – RYA Yachtmaster Examiner, RYA Yachtmaster Instructor and RYA Yachtmaster Ocean
Mark joins Bluewater Sailing with over 30 years of experience in RYA yachting instruction, deliveries, cruising and racing.
He has examined many candidates for Yachtmaster sail and power in the UK, Europe and the Eastern Caribbean.
Mark enjoyed his time as owner of SV Vendia (a 65 ton Baltic fisher converted to gaff ketch) running a yacht charter business here in Grenada.
Mark’s most recent adventure is to have completed an extended cruise of the USA’s east coast from Virginia to Maine, as Captain of a Catana 582 catamaran.
As Master of this privately owned yacht, he enjoyed extended foreign cruising, as well as charter work.
Mark has also provided charter services and private work on other large sports boats, private yachts and has even been the Master of the Isle of Wight high speed catamaran ferry in the UK.
During his extensive yachting career he has logged over 40,000 nm on a vast range of vessels, including full Atlantic crossings, and Caribbean to east coast USA crossings.
