Your RYA instructor will equip you with enough knowledge to safely navigate around familiar waters during daylight hours. On the RYA Day Skipper theory course you will be introduced to basic night cruising and lights.
Electronic Navigation and Technology
On all RYA theory courses, the continual advancement of maritime technology is taken into account. Bluewater Sailing, in conjunction with the RYA standards, regularly updates the syllabus to include developing electronic navigation aids that are frequently found on cruising boats. The RYA Day Skipper theory course will introduce you to the standard navigation aids that are used on charter yachts.
Additionally, candidates will learn to use a digital chart plotter specifically designed for use on RYA training and sailing courses – this will give you a realistic insight into electronic navigation.

The course is taught over 40 hours with two examination papers. It can be covered as a series of short sessions or as an intensive 5 day course in Grenada. The course costs GBP 450 per person.
