Summer in the Solent - 2006-07-20

Sunny moment Chichester Harbour |
We are sailing from the Azores on the 2 July and are planning some day sails during the first 10 days of August, come and have a look at Chao Lay and the crew. The Azores, what a paradise!! We arrived in Camaret sur Mer after eight and a half days on passage. Neptune smiled with nearly all-fair winds. We are still getting to know Chao Lay and night seven was enjoyed running under poled out scrap of headsail avoiding surfing speeds. The Hydro vane in control most of the time. The sun did not put in an appearance again. Such was our welcome to Northern Europe
The Atlantic was alive, with whale sighting for the first four days, dolphins and shearwaters were constant companions and numerous polyps carpeted the ocean.
We sailed on to Cherbourg, looking forward to Bastille day celebrations, this turned out to be a non event. We are now back in the Solent having enjoyed a few of the old favorite anchorages on route.
